A Forminit alternative that also receives your email.

Forminit is Getform under a new name: the team rebranded in January 2026, and getform.io now redirects to forminit.com. The product is the same shape it always was, and a good one. You point an HTML form at an endpoint, submissions land in a dashboard, and you get notified.

mailcontact is the same paste-one-URL simplicity with a different unit of organisation. The project, not the form. Each project gets one inbox that receives both its form submissions and messages sent to yourproject@mailcontact.app, with pings in Discord, Slack, email, or a webhook.

what is forminit

Forminit, in fair terms.

Forminit gives you endpoint URLs for HTML forms and a dashboard where submissions are stored, with spam filtering, file uploads, email notifications, webhooks, and Zapier automations on top. Checked on 17 July 2026, the free plan covers 100 submissions a month with a 30-day archive, 10MB of file storage and no credit card; Pro is $19/month ($15.83 billed yearly) for 5,000 submissions and adds webhooks, the REST API, Slack and Discord. It is a mature product with a long track record under its previous name.

It is forms-only, and the rebrand didn't change that. There is no inbound email address for a project, and submissions are organised per form rather than in a per-project inbox that merges every channel into one list.

the honest take

Which one should you pick?

Choose Forminit if…

  • You need file uploads on form submissions: Forminit handles them, mailcontact doesn't.
  • You want a proven service in production today. A rebrand doesn't reset a track record.
  • You automate submissions through Zapier or similar workflow tools.
  • Your forms already point at their endpoints and work. That's a good reason to leave them alone.

Choose mailcontact if…

  • You run several projects and want one inbox per project, not a pile of per-form submission lists.
  • You also want a public contact address without configuring DNS or a mail provider.
  • You'd rather get pinged in Discord or Slack than open a dashboard to find out someone wrote to you.
  • You want the lightweight version: receive, read, get notified. Not a helpdesk.

faq

Switching from Forminit, answered

Is Forminit the same thing as Getform?

Yes. Getform.io rebranded to Forminit in January 2026, announced by the team on 14 January, and the old domain redirects to forminit.com. Same product, same endpoint model, new name. If you find a comparison page still writing about Getform in the present tense, it predates the change.

Is switching from Forminit hard?

No. Both are plain HTML form endpoints, so migrating is changing one action URL in your form. Your markup, styling and field names are untouched. One note: mailcontact's configurable post-submit redirect is coming with the launch, so submit via fetch for now if you want visitors to stay on your page.

What does mailcontact have that Forminit doesn't?

A real inbound email address per project, and a unified per-project inbox where form submissions and email land together. Forminit is forms only. If a public contact address is part of what you need, that's the gap this fills.

Is mailcontact free?

There's a free tier to get started (a form, an auto-generated email address, and up to 2 projects), with a Pro plan priced at launch for custom addresses and higher volume.
