A Formspree alternative that's an inbox, not just an endpoint.

Formspree made 'point your form at a URL' the standard way to handle contact forms on static sites, and it's a solid, mature product. But if you juggle several projects, you end up with scattered form endpoints on one side and scattered mailboxes on the other.

mailcontact takes the same copy-paste simplicity and adds the missing half: every project gets one inbox that receives both its form submissions and its own real email address, with notifications in Discord, Slack, or a webhook.

what is formspree

Formspree, in fair terms.

Formspree is one of the oldest and best-known form backends: you point an HTML form at a Formspree URL and submissions are forwarded to your email. It offers Formshield spam filtering on every plan, a React library, file uploads, and plugins for tools like Google Sheets and Slack. Checked on 17 July 2026, the free plan allows 50 submissions per month across your whole account, unlimited forms, a 30-day archive, and no file uploads; Personal is $15/month for 200 submissions, Professional $30/month for 2,000 and unlocks the API and webhooks, and Business $90/month for 20,000.

It's a proven choice for a single production form, and it has a projects concept on every plan including Free. The trade-offs show up when you run many small projects on a 50-a-month account-wide budget, or when you also need a public email address. Formspree handles forms only.

the honest take

Which one should you pick?

Choose Formspree if…

  • You need a battle-tested service in production today, with years of track record.
  • You need file uploads on form submissions.
  • You rely on its ecosystem: the React library, Google Sheets export, or workflow integrations.
  • You have one high-volume form and want mature spam-filtering options.

Choose mailcontact if…

  • You run several projects and want one inbox per project instead of one endpoint per form.
  • You also want a public contact address (yourproject@mailcontact.app) without configuring DNS or a mail provider.
  • You'd rather get pinged in Discord or Slack than dig through your personal email.
  • You want the lightweight version: receive, read, get notified. Not a helpdesk.

faq

Switching from Formspree, answered

Is switching from Formspree hard?

No. Both are plain HTML form endpoints, so migrating is changing one action URL in your form. Your markup, styling, and fields stay the same. One note: the configurable post-submit redirect is coming with the launch, so submit via fetch for now if you want visitors to stay on your page.

Does mailcontact forward submissions to my email like Formspree does?

You can add an email notification channel to any inbox, so every message can still reach your mailbox, alongside Discord, Slack, or webhook alerts.

Is mailcontact free?

There's a free tier to get started (a form, an auto-generated email address, and up to 2 projects), with a Pro plan priced at launch for custom addresses and higher volume.

What does mailcontact have that Formspree doesn't?

A real inbound email address per project, and a unified per-project inbox where forms and email land together. Formspree is forms only.
