A FormBold alternative where the form and the email address share one inbox.

FormBold is a well-rounded form backend. Point a form at formbold.com/s/your-id and submissions appear in a dashboard, go out by email, and can fan out to Slack, Discord, Telegram, Notion, Google Sheets, HubSpot or a webhook. It even ships an MCP server so an AI coding tool can manage forms. For a developer who only needs forms handled, there is little to complain about.

What FormBold does not do is receive email. A project usually needs both: a form for the people who click, and an address for the people who write. mailcontact gives every project one inbox where both arrive, with its own [email protected] address that works without DNS, and a remote MCP server that lets ChatGPT or Claude read the conversations and draft replies rather than manage form settings.

what is formbold

FormBold, in fair terms.

FormBold (formbold.com) is a form endpoint with a submissions dashboard. Checked on 28 October 2026, the Free plan is $0 for 250 submissions a month, 10 forms, 1 workspace and a single user. Starter is $6/month ($72 billed yearly) for 3,000 submissions, unlimited forms and 2 team members. Premium is $15/month ($180 yearly) for 10,000 submissions, 5 workspaces and 5 members. Business is $30/month ($360 yearly) for 30,000 submissions, unlimited workspaces and 20 members. The pricing page shows a 'Save 25%' badge on yearly billing, but the yearly figures displayed are twelve times the monthly ones; take the badge with a grain of salt.

Every plan, Free included, gets the spam filter, reCAPTCHA and hCaptcha, domain allow and deny lists, file attachments served from a CDN, an autoresponder, custom redirects, CSV export, no FormBold branding and the full list of integrations. That is a generous free tier for a forms-only product, and the integration catalogue is broader than ours. FormBold handles forms only; there is no inbound address and no reply from the dashboard.

the honest take

Which one should you pick?

Choose FormBold if…

  • You need file attachments on submissions; FormBold includes them on the free plan.
  • Your workflow pushes submissions into Notion, HubSpot, Google Sheets or Mailchimp and you want native connectors.
  • You want 250 free submissions a month for a forms-only site.
  • You manage many forms for a team and want workspaces and member seats.

Choose mailcontact if…

  • Each project should have one place for everything it receives, email and form alike.
  • You want a public contact address without touching DNS or paying for a mailbox.
  • You answer people from the same screen where their message arrived, instead of forwarding to a personal inbox.
  • You want an AI assistant to read and triage the conversations, not just configure the form.

faq

Switching from FormBold, answered

How do I switch a form from FormBold to mailcontact?

Change the action attribute from formbold.com/s/your-id to your mailcontact form URL. Field names, markup and styling stay as they are. Two things to check before you cut over: mailcontact does not accept file inputs on the endpoint, and the post-submit redirect is not configurable yet, so submit with fetch if you want visitors to stay on the page.

FormBold has an MCP server too. What is the difference?

FormBold's MCP server is aimed at coding tools such as Cursor or Claude Code to create and manage forms. mailcontact's remote MCP server, available on Pro and Plus with OAuth, exposes the inbox itself: an assistant can list conversations, mark them read and, if you allow it, send replies from the project address. One is about building forms, the other about handling what people sent.

Where does FormBold beat mailcontact on price?

On the free tier and on raw submission volume. FormBold Free handles 250 submissions a month with every integration enabled; mailcontact Free handles 50 messages for one project. At the first paid step they are close: FormBold Starter is $6/month for 3,000 submissions, mailcontact Pro is €9/month or €90/year for 10 projects, 1,000 messages, inbound email addresses and replies. If you count only submissions, FormBold is cheaper; if you need an address, that is the price difference.

Can I keep FormBold for forms and use mailcontact only for email?

Yes. A mailcontact project works fine with just its address and no form attached, so you can leave existing FormBold endpoints alone and add a [email protected] address for people who prefer writing. Most people consolidate later because the inbox becomes the place they check, but nothing forces the move.
